Family, skills, and work with a long horizon

Kenya is family and work with a long horizon. I visited in 2024 to get to know everyone. In 2025 I returned to help finish what we started and to introduce Maggy, my dad's wife, to Geoffrey, a friend and professional colleague.

Maggy's school is Oldoinyo Oibor Training Institute in Oloitoktok, in the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro. The institute helps adults level up skills so they can find or create greater opportunity in a remote area. The campus lacked internet, so I purchased a Starlink dish on site.

Geoffrey owns Work for Impact, a mission-driven B Corp employment agency. I am a client and have hired team members through him, including someone who lives in Nairobi.

Geoffrey also runs charitable foundations nearby: feeding programs for children in settlements, a farm run by rescued kids, and a children's art gallery. The visits were about people and work underway, not spectacle.
